Jonas is a smart umbrella that lets you know what the weather is like when you step outside your home. It will give you weather information for seven days from Yahoo! Weather if you sync your phone with an application its supports – tagged JONAS.
Created by digital accessories company, Fantastick , the umbrella gives daily forecast by LED colouring at the front of your door, when you want to step out and send alerts to your phone if it gets missing or stolen. You will get information on the last location, directing you to it.
Two years ago, Sunnycomb , a weather-related blog, conducted a “Global Umbrella Survey” and found that on average, people lose about 3 to 5 umbrellas throughout the course of their lifetime, but Jonas will make sure you never lose your umbrella again.
As long as the associated app is installed and connected to your phone via Bluetooth, Jonas will let you know if you’ve left it behind by sending an alert to your phone, and not just that, it will also vibrate and notify you with an alarm if you leave your smartphone somewhere.
Made of ultra-light aluminium and unbreakable fibre glass ribs, Jonas will call your phone if you cannot find it, by just simply shaking it. It also works as your personal companion by alerting you of call and message notifications from your phone.
The N35, 000 ($105) umbrellas is elegantly covered in pongee fabric, in a wide range of colours. Other specs under its hood include – 4 AAA batteries and 3 colour LED, Bluetooth 4.2 and a gravity sensor.
No doubt Jonas is pricier than most traditional umbrellas, its smart technology and durable construction means that many won’t have to buy another soon.
